SHRM OF CENTRAL NEW JERSEY INC. PHR/SPHR CERTIFICATION

The Chapter strongly advocates that its members pursue certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute. HR practitioners, educators, researchers and consultants with at least two years of exempt level experience are eligible to apply. Details on eligibility, test dates and sites, as well as registration information for this national exam can be found at the SHRM National website http://www.SHRM.org. Many chapter members are certified, and the spring Legal Seminar counts toward recertification credits too.

PARTNERSHIP WITH FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY

The Chapter maintains a partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University to promote preparation courses for members and non-members who plan to sit for either the PHR or SPHR exams (persons simply desiring either an intense course, or a refresher on a comprehensive HR curriculum, are also invited to participate in the course). These classes are held in the fall and spring each year at many sites throughout central and northern New Jersey. Interested persons may contact:

Another option open to Chapter members interested in a topic review course as preparation for the certification exam, is to join a study group sponsored by the Chapter. This informal group will endeavor to cover all 7 major knowledge areas for the exam using one of two popular study materials sets the student provides: the HRCI Learning System or the Human Resources Management text and workbook by John H. Jackson and Robert L. Mathis, SPHR.

SHRM® and SHRM of Central New Jersey offer scholarships which can assist in defraying some of the costs of a preparation course.
